Forty years ago, this kind of vulgarity would have been the end of a candidate. But since then… we’ve had Monica Lewinsky, Anita Hill, and dozens of women who have tried to call out the base behavior of some men in power, including the Orange Menace. And we’ve seen how many of those women have been heard and believed.
Thanks for your comment, Elaine. I believe you are spot on. We've coarsened as a culture in language, civility and common decency. Those of us who came of age in the '60s and '70s -- when the straitjackets came off a lot of things -- are now, oddly enough, appalled by what we've heard lately. Even in the Boomer heyday, much of what we hear now would be considered too vile and disrespectful.
